My Personality

More:
Personality ? I suppose the main thing is my “evil”, for want of a better word, sense of humour. I don’t mean evil in a nasty way, it’s more sarcasm than anything else. I constantly fail to see the seriousness of a situation and will often make inappropriate comments. I suppose this is what helped me stay relatively sane when I had to spend three months flat on my back with serious injuries. I’ve been told I sometimes cause people mild offence - in such cases, it’s certainly accidental . . . . they’d know if I meant to offend ‘em . . . I don’t suffer fools gladly.

I tend to trust people, which ain’t always a good thing – but I’m of the belief that most folks are good and trustworthy in return. Ok, so I’ve had my fingers burned on the odd occasion, but on the whole I take people for what and who they say they are.

I’d say I’m tolerant, and it takes a lot for me to get to the point where I lose my temper. . . . I may do the odd “John Cleese” full rant, but it ain’t serious and it makes me feel better. I just ain’t got time to waste on such things, besides how many folks fall out over the most trivial of things ?

I’m most certainly not a morning person. I dislike having to rise early even for things I enjoy, though if I must, then I will.

Loyalty is important to me. I still have some friends today that I used to go to school with, and I’ve been in the same bike club since 1982 - The Moonshiners MCC, if you must know. I’m a great believer in freedom, which is why I’m also a MAG life member.

My Appearance

More:
My appearance ? Oh dear, where do I start ? Well I did have hair once, but that was many years ago, in fact I was virtually bald by the time I reached my mid twenties – so rather than worry about it, I just kept it deliberately short. I’m afraid I’m far to idle to spend my time shaving each morning, so it was beard time. I did shave it off once, but that was in 1984. These days it’s gone from fairly long and black to not so long and grey – or the “more mature” look as some folks call it. [EDIT] It's now 2017 and my beard has now gone purple, or "The New Grey" as I like to call it. I don't follow trends . . . . I set 'em !

Let’s not beat about the bush with terms like “big boned” and “cuddly” . . I’m fat, simple as that. Right, so that’s fat and bald . . I ain’t doing myself any favours here am I ? Just to add injury to insult ( you see what I did there ? ) on Halloween 2009 some careless motorist decided to try and remove my left leg. Shall we say I was not at all pleased about this ? OK, so it’s the best part of three years down the line now, but I still walk with the aid of an elbow crutch for most of the time.

( EDIT ) It's now six years down the line - I can get about, but walking any distance is out of the question.
We now have fat, bald and a cripple (can we still use that word ? ) – the best thing I can do is just shut up now before things get any worse.

Misc. Information

Interested in meeting:
I see they save the best one for last. I suppose, first and foremost, someone who enjoys the journey as much as the destination – and that works for life as well as for the bike.

Seeing as my circumstances have changed, I now have much more time for rides out, so someone who has free time would be nice. I used to attend rallies at least once a month, but that pleasure was denied to me for the last three years due to the accident, I can now just about camp again, so liking the odd rally or two would be an advantage – there again, I also enjoy staying B&B occasionally and touring around the region.

Of course, having your own bike / trike would be great, but not essential. I don’t want someone who’s there 24/7 – I think your own personal free time is vital – besides, you can have too much of a good thing, or so they tell me. Socially I tend to avoid crowded, loud and lively places, but don’t mind poking my nose in ‘em on the odd occasion. I do have a soft spot for a curry now and again – and it would be much more enjoyable with someone on the other side of the table. So there we have it – there’s still a whole lot of roads I ain’t travelled out there – and I ain’t getting any younger ;-)
