Has anyone noticed that with the ban, the pubs/clubs now stink of stale sweat & you can smell the bogs!!!??? I wonder if I should go into designing an airfreshener especially made for pubs/clubs...hmmmmm

Sorry folks,know this is an old topic but living in Scotland we,ve had the ban for over a year now,and,as a smoker,i have to say i prefer it.
Sorry Kwak but my attitude was exactly the same as yours to begin with but you get used to it quicker than you think and it does have some added bonuses.
Dazpants ur rite bout the front door of pubs,but its amazing how many landlords are now making the use of any outside space.When the ban came in only 1 of 7 pubs i regularly visit had a beer garden,now theres only 1 that dosent and 1 closed down.

As for niteclubs they've gone back to the old ink stamp on the back of the hand and theres never any problem getting in and out in fact non smokers are loving it as they can now come and go with no problems and people are actually socialising more outside now and only going in to drink and dance.Kwak its actually a lot easier to chat someone up when you dont have to scream in their ear.

Holmfirthgirl and Oggy are right about the smells and it is amazing what nasty smells lurk in pubs to such an extent that it puts you off going in,another bonus,landlords are refurbing to keep their customers and those that don't are closing.

Result a cleaner,fresher enviroment that you quickly come to expect.On a recent trip to yorkshire i found the inside of pubs unbearable and had to sit outside anyway.

Word of caution tho,up here the £50 fine extends to throwing ur fag end in the street and they do enforce it and they run plate checks on vehicles and if its registered for buisness use the fines automatic.

They have the ban in Spain but pubs,clubs & resturants can apply for a license to be smoking establishments.They have to put a sign on the door that they allow smoking inside.If the goverment had a bit more sense they'd see they could make more money by bringing this scheme in over here.Hang on 'goverment'money'  wont be long before one of 'em catch's on.                                                                                                                                                                             

I know this is a very old topic but it's made me giggle at myself, my comments /opinion are totally different now.

I gave up smoking in October 2007 and since then have disliked the smell of fags and smokers.

It actually makes me feel sick to smell it.
