SE Camping Weekend KENT 3-5 Aug 2012

Hi all, pleased to announce the first of a number of events in the South East. I have arranged for BM to have a prescence at the 40s weekend being held at the Farriers Arms near Ashford. The pub was founded in the 17th century and a couple of yrs ago was in danger of being closed forever....the village rallied round and bought the pub and its now owned as a co operative by several hundred people! They are keen to encourage use of the pub and grounds and its popularity is growing fast. It has its own brewery and the ale is fine (I felt I had to try the several varieties in order to report).. There is a restaurant and bar food too. There will be live music although I dnt yet know exactly what! There is a mini footy pitch and a bouls area too. Next door is a mill and the stream runs behind the pub,the campsite is reached via a footbridge over this. There will be a gathering of vintage cars,buses,trucks and bikes. Last yr attracted nearly 3000 folk over the weekend! We will have a roped off area in the camping field and there is a toilet block situated there. Washing facilities will be limited however, prob no showers although this may change. Its a lovely place and I think will be a great atmosphere there. I going to try to see if there can be a campfire for the eve too.... Harley club there too as may be others.. I awaiting further details and photos of last year to post for you.......be nice if we can get a 100 to go......oh free lollipop too!! Get yer names down!! Andy

ha jac....I sure u can sort it to yer advantage..... This event WILL be great, even ordered sunshine.... There a pole cemented in the ground at the site....wonderin how we can make use of it...... looks strong enough...and its smooth painted finish....

Hi all copy of e mail received from pub landlord..looking great weekend fer us all ..Hi Andy Looks a good site you have there. I will get some pictures together for you. Booked for the event so far we have the Swingtime sweethearts, Jazz band, pearly king and barrel organ , plus an aerobatic display. There will be a beer tent plenty of food options including breakfast at the pub if required. I expect to have an old time musical event with period dancers. On the Sunday we will have the Morgan car club spinner presentation, last year this attracted over 200 classic cars. Tractors , stainary engines and WW11 equipment, maybe even the odd steam engine. I doubt you will be dissapointed. Regards Richard
