Been thinking about this for a long time and thought hell why not!   Get my license back in August and thinking about route 66 for singles with a hired Harley in November this year.    Want to hear what pees thought about it if they've been there and done it...... an feedback welcome, thanks.    :-)

I have and I'm friends with the guys who actually run HD's official tours

Own opinion

It is a great thing to do and a fantastic experience but ......  I think the best of the West tour/Wild West Tour is better than full 66 tour.

The first part of Route 66 is the long straights everyone thinks of and it's further West when things get better.  If you look at my profile and then down to America you an see a pics for an idea.

If you do route 66 in reverse you can half the cost if your interested also and can send you a link for it.

I saw a TV documentary on Route 66.
It's not what it was - too touristy and commercialised.

It's been "not wot it was" ever since 1946 when a chap called Bobby Troup wrote a song about it. Its been a tourist route ever since. Geek

They also do a reverse Route 66 tour and is about half the price but these guys are the official HD tour guides.  Garry "the bear" comes over to UK for Brum bike show and then comes up and stays with me each year.  he is Mr Route 66 and No1 tour guide so worth going to say hello end of the year at next show.

As for Route 66 being commercialised then that isn't a bad thing but i would go do it before deciding an opinion on it ;)

This is something I'd like to do, but hols taken up this year touring France. Would the trip depend on numbers?

If you book a tour then no you just pay and turn up 9what i did).  You can book the bikes and trip and go do it yourself (cheaper).

Or you can get a group together and I can run the tour for you for less alsoThumbs Up

I have offered before that I can sort US tours if folks want to do it but it's the lack of numbers stopping it as not cheap
