Winter Tyres..

Evening all..

I'm jumping way ahead of myself here but I have an unavoidable journey from Germany back to the UK in mid December..... Now apart from being foolhardy, it's also German law that you have suitable winter tyres, non-compliance eliciting an 80 euro spot fine and invalidating your insurance in the event of an off. As this will be my first winter with only the bike for transport, do any BM'ers have any advice or recommendations??

What is a winter tyre? All the tyres you can buy in this country are for all year round use. So I suppose they could be classed as winter tyres.
