LOL There's certainly a spoof site, where you fill in your reg details, and then they tell you, you have been 'done'.   Don't think they can put that sort of info on the net tho

its definitely not online anywhere.   When I used to do the summons and stuff at my local nick, we had 14 days to send the NIP and 6 months for the court date.  The NIP had to be stamped at the post office recorded delivery within 14 days.   If the post go on strike for 3 months then it's not the fault of the police, so it's not one rule for us and one for them.

Written in the Road Traffic Act   Q, I have been flashed by a speed camera, what happens next, 14 Day Rule. The Police have 14 days to send you a Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP). They also get an allowance of a couple of days for the post to deliver it. So if its more than 17 days since you were flashed they are too late to prosecute you, unless you were driving a company car, hire car or someone else's car. In these circumstances they are allowed more time to track you down. Q, The Notice of Intended Prosecution (NIP) arrived outside of the "14" day period. You should be able to get the prosecution dropped. Q, What is the time limit, within which you can be prosecuted. The police have to serve a summons on the defendant within 6 months of the date on which the prosecutor (normally the CPS) certify that they have collated enough evidence to bring a charge. This does not mean that the police have 6 months from the date of the offence to charge the accused.

If the vehicle's recently changed hands, they'll be allowed more time to find you too. It's not as if DVLA are the most efficient organisation in the worldSmile

Craig ... mine turned up 7 weeks after offence ... but had to pay and got the points cos was 'sent' on the 14th day.

It may not be actually posted that day ... but 'sent' means its gone according to the computer.

Date on letter was 14 days ... but post date was different.

Anyways ... totally confused me (not hard I know) ... all I can say is give it a little while longer till breathing ....  sorry Craig Unhappy ... hope its a better month for you Big smile

Don't forget if you were pulled over at the roadside and spoken to, then you have already had a NIP verbally and won't get one in post.

hang on a minute what people are saying is that by law they have 14 days to send you NIP, but people are getting them sent 7 - 8 weeks after camera flash and still being done because computer says it was sent. Surely this is a breach of guidlines. I can understand an exception due to post strikes and tracking via DVLA but 7 - 8 weeks is stretching it a bit considering it is a recorded delivery...   ..mmmmhhh sounds like a bending of the rules to me because there administration is crap and they can't sort it out
