Hi Glenn , think your best bet will be the paintjob shops as sight unseen makes it difficult for advice here even if there's a few specialists in that line on the site .

Could be cheaper to get 2nd hand stuff off ebay or the like! Unless you are customising it!   But can still pay around £200 for a tank sprayed to a std you'd be happy with! In std colours

Hi Glenn   I know someone in Bury that does custom jobs with cars ... will ask him if he does bikes too if you like & drop you his number if he does.

IF its a spray job only (no deep gouges) its still gonna be cheaper if you strip the bike yourself and refit afterwards , also get your decals on ebay from Bike Decals , decals alone can save you 100 quid ! if you supply them.

Glenn, I have a mate who does good quality paint and minor bodywork repairs at very reasonable rates, a couple of his trike paint jobs have won prizes. He is a a garden shed worker and hence low overheads and reasonable prices.

Matt doesn't like numbers or addresses in forums and given some of the folk who troll sites you can understand why. AFAIK pm's are ok

I bought my Triumph sprayed matt black and enjoy it as is now , but for future reference i'll remember that you have a buddy in that line of expertise .

When you get tired of trying to keep matt black matt John the sprayer recommends satin black with satin lacquer. I quite like the look but the price of satin lacquer is eye watering. It's one of the problems with paintjobs, people just don't appreciate how expensive paint can be, he did a trike recently (bike tank, trailer guards and bike sidepanels) and the paint and thinners alone cost over £400!!    Never ever ask him about Chromaflair (iridescent bluebottle finish) unless you have time for an hour long lecture and can get a mortgage.

I need to share with everyone , that my boyfriend at the time( 1979) had his tank customised and sprayed with the manhatten skyline in sparkly red, I thought i'd polish it and wax the tank, it crazed and split, and I have been paying the price ever since :-/. I meant well, but i'm scarred for life  lol does anyone forgive me :-)
