haha.. i had a coat wiv fur round the hood too !!  Only mine was a black duffle coat handed down from mi brother.. that mi mum stitched red fur round the hood ....hmmmmmmm    Awww i remember mi mum buying me a Ghetto Blaster for Christmas, but it wasn't a SUPER HUGE one, i was really disappointed.. and poor mum had saved alll her Green Shield stamps to get it .. ungrateful bugga i was   Tv progs... Rhubarb and Custard.. ( that was always rite shakey.. im sure the producers were tripping!! )  The Herbs, (Parsley the Lion was kooool) The Liver Birds, The Likely Lads, George and Mildred. Love Thy Neighbour ( i went to skool wiv Jack Smethurst's daughter, Jane, he played the white honky)  I remember we did a school play, and i knew he was gonna be in the audience, so i was lookin round for him and tripped up the steps on the stage   Mind your Language, (I went to see that being filmed, i was in the audience, it was hilarious when we watched it back, and they had 'canned laughter') !   I like northern soul too, Red!  My ex hubs was a big fan, he had a pair of Zoots tailor-made at John Colliers, in 1980, cost him £30 !!  5 pleats either side of the fly and tapered leg !  lol Got both box sets of Wigan Casino.. still got the talc too   OMG.. Spyder...look wot you've done!!  gonna be late for work now.....hehe ..but worth it.., brilliant memories !                                                                                                                                                                               

Well I'm glad I started this thread, looks like you had had a trip down memory lane, and now I find myself saying   "Those were the days" OMG i've got to old, lol   So how many of you are old enough to remember the old money,   We went decimal in July 1971, I was 11 years old but for some reason I can remember it clearly..... as a kid I was devastated..   Here's why...   I could buy 8 Blackjacks / Fruit Salads for a penny. There were 240 pennies in a pound 240 * 8 = 1920 Blackjacks / Fruit Salads for a Pound   Then we went to decimal   I could now only get 4 Blackjacks / Fruit Salads for a penny. There were now only 100 pennies in a pound 100 * 4 = 400 Blackjacks / Fruit Salads for a Pound   The goverment ripped me off for 1520 Blackjacks / Fruit Salads over night.   I remember working this out at school and moaning at the teacher. I was just a kid   I used to buy 5 Parkdrive tiped, cost a shilling and hapeney. Used to buy singles for tupence (two pennies) Moved on to 10 No6 cost 2 bob Then 20 No6 cost 4 bob Fish and chip in real newspaper was 2/6 (2 shillings and Sixpence)   Remember a Shilling / bob was 12d so the f/chips were 30d imagine getting fish and chip now for 30pence pmsl.   Anyway glad this helped  I'll let you all come back to the future......

I hardly remember any of this...is it because I'm too young or because I was kept under the stairs as a child? Lol!   In all seriousness, I remember some of it, the lack of technology, remotes, mobiles etc, cd/dvds and the sence of freedom (when allowed out from under the stairs!) etc.   I don't remember the music but I didn't grow up listening to popular music.   I certainly don't remember old money!! I do remember playing with my Grandad's collection of it and being wide eyed at how HUGE the pennies were!   I don't actually remember a great deal - either my memory is shit or there isn't much worth remembering...sounds like you guys all had loads of fun though!

Whats yer handle then ttaskmaster?! Deadliner. I used to have Blakeys on my parade shoes, as did all of my squadron. Sounded fookin amazing marching across the square first thing in the morning when it was all quiet. HAH - We made considerable fun out of other ATC units who did that. See, WE were taught proper drill. You came to a halt with an immense stamp, but there's a technique to doing it without breaking your ankle. Our Warrant Officer was the only one in the Region who'd taken the AP818 Drill Instructors' Course and was the only one allowed to strut about with a proper Pace Stick. Oddly enough, we usually walked away with the Drill trophy every Wing Field day!!! So what were we listening too ??All that stuff you just listed, I still play, man!!!Everything from Silver dream Machine and Ballroom Blitz to Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep (where's ya mama gone) and Tiger Feet. I still have all my Suzi Quatro vinyl, too!! btw, CB radios, sure that was late 80s That's when it became a proper trend, after the Guvmint issued FM licences. However, my dad is a trucker and they'd been importing the American AM rigs since the mid-70's. The AM ones are still illegal even today...... So how many of you are old enough to remember the old money,I still have a couple of £1 notes, saved between the pages of a book next to an actual 4-leaf clover I once found. Yeah tangoman60, 2/6 was half a crown, 5 bob in a crown, but I got to say they went out just before I got an understanding of money, I bet you remember the old silver thropenny joe'e, replaced later by the thropence (Hexagon shape) as a kid I swollowed one of them... oo err That did create a panic with the staff..   And lets not forget the onslought of Space Invaders, spent hours on that, mostly in the Ace transport cafe on the A38

Did someone mention green shield stamps I still have almost a full book of them, also have one of the very first remote control black and white tv's and its still working in my kitchen, as well as one of the very first mobile phones (not working) got Trumpton LP to and am sure I have loads more stuff like that lying around in my house. I hate throwing anything away. My biggest regret has got to be getting rid of my Afghan Coat, I can still smell it now if I close my eyes, I wasn't allowed to hang it with the other coats it spent most of its life hanging on the washing line.   What about going to woollies and buying a bag of broken biscuits, or buying apple cider fizzy pop and pretending you were boozing, rainbow kali, half a crown a week pocket money if I did all my chores, well that was when I was 14, only had a tanner up until then. I am still trying to replace my favourite 78 record that my Dad gave me, modern houses aghhh the central heating cracked it. (still have it though)   Just looked at some old pics of my first house I lived in when I got married, omg pattern carpet, pattern curtains, pattern wallpaper and none of it matched.
