Hi,

I'm hoping to go to a rally but none of my friends can make it or don't want to go. I've gone to rallies alone and always met friends there but I've never gone on my own and not known anyone.
Have any of you ladies gone on your own and how have you found it? Ladies and gents, what's your thoughts?

Thanks in advance 😊

I quite often go to one dayers on my own jolly rambler I'm happy in my own Company and as you well know someone will always chat at the bar or at the bike show 2018 I did a road trip to the west country I must admit my lack social activity actually surprised me everybody wanted to chat and I'm always happy to respond ....funny I've actually been ignored by you ladies here on this site ....but out on the road everyone wants to chat ...so my advice jolly rambler is go with your gut feeling .....or I'm sure people at said rally will happily chat and I'm sure youll.make friends ....I'm off camping again this year alone if need be ....ride safe 😎

Hi Jollyrambler, I think Rallies are only different in one way from life in general, meeting people and socialising is always a two way street. The difference at a Rally is that there is a gathering of like minded people with generally common interests and with the feeling of community..... I haven't been to a Rally yet where people aren't prepared to put themselves out to help others. If your an outgoing friendly light hearted person you will have a great time. If your the shy retiring type, you'll soon find new friends. Swoop

Exactly the reason I don't do rallies, being a lone rider and not good at mixing and meeting folk. Having close friends to go with I think makes all the difference to going where you have to mix in. Moving to a new area hasn't helped and now have to start again.

Hi
My ex and I did rallies and I love them and I would like to keep them up this year. I’m a bit weary of going on my own in a tent and then to the band etc

That's the things with rallies, more the smaller ones, always guaranteed to chat to new peeps, made many friends, see them from year to year at the same rallies, catch up and just enjoy the weekend. Very friendly environment πŸ™‚

I always go to rallys on my own but know that I'll find some of the brilliant friends I have on here to camp with, and there's always someone up fo a ride out, when I'm there I'll wonder of on my own and can always find someone to talk to

Hi Jollyrambler
For my part I think it rather depends how confident and outgoing you are but having said that I find there is nothing to fear but fear itself. I always travel alone to rallies and have done over many years. Last year, as well as in this country, I was travelling in France and this year I will be gong to Northern Italy. I have also biked extensively in Thailand. The first time I went I was petrified as had done nothing like it before but taking a friends recommendation I hired a bike in Chiang Mai and went off through the mountains all over the north of Thailand. I needn't have worried as I had the holiday of a lifetime and have done similar several times since.
There is something quite special about bikers in general and I find if you ride a bike you are never alone. There is an unwritten loyalty and camaraderie which you do not find with other road users.
As for this country I would say if you want to find trouble you can find it anywhere but as long as you take sensible precautions you will find it difficult not to come away from any rally or gathering without having met new friends and possible future riding buddies
If you want to attend a rally in this country and I would encourage you to do so I think you will have little trouble in finding a member on here to ride there with

Hi 😊

Thank you all for your replies.
I've been out of the biking scene for a while so I don't know that many bikers anymore, which is why my nerves have just kicked in lol
The rally I'm hoping to go for is simmer dim so it's nearly a week long rally, I know I'll find new friends there I think it's just the unknown, I'm not worried about camping alone or walking around alone, I think it's standing on the outside looking in but I think alcohol will help πŸ˜‚ Once I get my ticket I can post questions on their site, maybe find some people to ride up with.
If I don't know people I can be quite shy/quiet, I have done camping and walking alone, I didn't mind it till I was at the campsite alone and didn't talk to anyone but as has been said, bikers are a different breed.

I was approached on a rally last year and got asked if I was single or married, no chatting just straight into the question, that felt a little odd and made an uncomfortable weekend at times as he followed me around a bit, this has put the seed of wariness in my head but I think I'll cope 😊

Thanks, I've done it a couple of times already but gone with friends, due to their circumstances no-one wants to go so I'll be going alone and I've never been to any rally completely alone so I was wondering how others felt and dealt with it, especially from a woman's perspective.
I've posted on their Facebook page and everyone's welcoming and I'll see if I can ride up with others too
