Do people actually use hand signals to other bikers anymore?
As I was out on a ride I happened to pass a mobile speed trap, a few hundred meters past the trap I saw an oncoming fellow biker, I thought that I would warn him and I tapped the top of my helmet. All i got was a puzzled look, so do people actually bother with hand signals any more or is it just me?

Yeah they are used in Yorkshire quite a lot. Often see tap on helmet (speed trap), spinning finger pointing upwards (plod in sky) as well as various other gestures. Some not polite!! Lol

In the midlands, back in the dim and distant past ( the 80's ), we used to do a Jim Davidson to oncoming riders if we passed a bobby.

I use the usual (down here) tapping hand on top of helmet as speed camera /plods warning..most of my offensive gestures are reserved for dozy pillocks in cars/vans...as normal...:)>
