Has anybody had a KTM that cuts out or won't start for no obvious reason ? I've just picked up a new KTM790 Duke and I've got a engine warning light and a failure to run.

Eeek sounds nasty.
Hopefully just a silly mistake during the build process and will be all good once they fix it. Don't think they're well known for problems to be honest.

Welcome to the site by the way

I do like ktms, but. They seem to be overdeveloped, no excuse for system failures with todays technology..

so, the verdict is that it was a problem with the sensor in the throttle as it's "ride by wire" The said it "had water in it" so it may have happened when I washed the bike. However, I thought bikes were SUPPPOSED to be washed ? Not just wiped down with a damp cloth, but with more soft wear than a lap top..... perhaps I ought to treat it like one !

Fair weather bike best not go out if it might rain

If it camt get wet its not fit for purpose here in the UK. I would be pushing for a refund and go shopping else where if they get funny about fixing it.

Had short circuit on my 690 smcr. 6 months out of warranty. KTM spent ages trying to fix it, eventually replacing the wiring loom. Thankfully without charge.
