Once you have insurance, whichever company/broker you choose, when you get your policy check the details are correct; cos if you should need to make a claim at any time, and the details are incorrect your cover could be invalid.    Another thread on the same topic, may be helpful to you VM  http://www.bikermatch.co.uk/sites/bm/forum/posts.asp?to...c_id=11792

How much is ridiculous?
My work colleagues 18 year old son is paying £2500 tpf and t on a 1996 Fiesta which the insurer values at £120........
Mine is reasonable due to various factors-
Garage with ground anchor,cctv,alarm etc.
Old fart rider (44)
On a classic policy as a 2nd bike
VJMC member
Car owner (makes bike a 2nd vehicle)
Full licence for 23 years.

Despite a bike theft claim (nicked during a burglary last xmas) mine is £280 fully comp, not bad for 2 bikes including a Honda Blackbird.

If you can squeeze a few of them in you might better quotes, can't recommend the bike theft though,my car insurance went up from £600 to £1100 due to the theft claim.

that is a bit steep, from memory my (borrowed) cb125tdc cost around the 150 mark, that was in 1989 though! Didn't pay much more for a 901cc+ rider policy after passing my test in 1990 come to that.

Ebike are pretty good I have a multi bike policy with 3 bikes and they were hundreds less than all the others..,

One thing grips me is my biggest bike is 1300cc and I will only ride one at a time but it does push it right up having a few bikes on there...

I went through Bennetts, fully comp (including helmet and kit cover) £500 ish for Honda CBF500.  Expensive but still the cheapest out there for me and I am getting on a bit.    No quarter given for age as a newbie.       should (hopefully) go down this year.   RB

problem with insurance is  it depends very much on your postcode age and what you ride so asking others isnt necessarily gonna get YOU a good deal.   Try MCN compare, MCE (their customer service is crap hence they are cheap!), you mentioned Carole Nash (they used to be cheapest for me but no longer) i am with Adelaide (dont know if they deal with the rest of the UK), Bennetts are cheap for some (but they have to pay for bsb sponsorship somehow) try Devitt (they were cheap for me after a claim when no one else would touch me)   the main thing is shop around and dont just go off price.

BeWise always works for me but it pays to do a annual check, loyality counts for nought nowadays.

I've had three insurance companies in as many years. I shop around every year as you can get up to 25% off for new business discount.
ATM I'm with Carole Nash as I get free AA recovery, free 'Smartwater'
plus all the usual extras. Fully Com.p on my BMW R1150R costs me £163. The AA cover and the Smartwater alone would be just over £100 so the insurance really only costs me £63....That's a figure I can live with ( BUT they won't insure my trike!!)

Was with Bennetts last year and then when they quoted £560 for this year (or £800 if I wanted to protect my 1 year no claims) I shopped around and saved over £250 and am now with Hastings. I have fully comp and add ons so its more expensive than the basic quotes I got through MCN but it still a whole lot cheaper this year.
