A growing number of motorcyclists are being told they are not insures to ride on the Nurburing.
According to brokers, use of the circuit is explicitly ruled out in the terms of most uk policies.
Those from the uk may be unaware they are not insured.

Thanks for posting that RB
I wonder if that means folk have to take separate insurance when they ride race tracks in the U K?

Nurburgring cover ia available by the day from specialist motorsports insurers such as www.moris.co.uk
Personal injury lawyer Jon Edwards told mcn that eu law means your insurer would need to pay out any third party claim but would be allowed to seek reimbursement from you afterwards

My policy rules out any track activity of any sorts.
This was brought in as many of the Track Day organisers said that track days were not race days - but well organised structured classes of bikes going at speed in acontrolled environment. Yeah Right!!.......not racing until someone overtakes ya!!
Nurburgring is actually named as a no no on my policy too.

Its quite well documented that they make it such that (unless the bike is a complete right off or stolen) there is very or no risk whatsoever to themselves.
Lets face it, normal bloke, aged 45, bike in garage, 2000 miles a year. £500 excess and £500 voluntary excess on top.
What risk exactly?
Nil.
Hence you are roight saying thieves!

this is why most people who, if they do trash their bikes on a track day etc, usually get someone to help them push it outside the circuit & then make the appropriate calls - or get someone with a van to take them somewhere 'away' from the circuit. Virtually every policy will not cover you for any form of 'circuit' activity.

Last time I did track day there was a dodgy looking geezer going round taking all number plate details as we arrived. Word was he was from insurance firms. Wouldn't surprise me.

My MCE policy states no track days etc. Plus it specifically mentions Nurburging as a No No.
