Following on from one of the threads, I thought might be a good idea if we could set up a recommendation thread for schools. Sandi not sure if you want this in general chat or products. I know it is a subjective thing and I know I looked at several schools before choosing, but any advice or recommendations could help a newbie to bikes greatly in who they choose. I recommend Degs and Mark at Stockport School of Motorbiking (Burnage, Stockport). Nigel is the owner. They also work at Cheshire Bike Training (CBT) with Nick (one of the owners), Tim and Toby (Macclesfield). Degs got me through both Mod 1 & 2, despite me overthinking things and not knowing my left from my right....oh and falling off every bike I got on. RB

Iain Corser is ace for anyone learning over in the Darlington area

http://www.corsermotorcycleacademy.com/

I only had one session with him but he very kindly got me a practice session on the Darlington Mod1 test site which was invaluable Thumbs Up

I'd suggest checking with any bike school if they are able to arrange Mod1 test site practice sessions....it's really useful having a go on the site before you're faced with the real thing

Tony Best @ Ballymena, for those over in N.Ireland. He is one of my club members and an exceptional instructor.   http://www.ballymenamotorcycletraining.com/contact_us.html

I used Shires in Nottingham / Derby........ dunno if they are still good bt were brill when i did lessons with them... only had 6 and then passed test.. no bike to practice on inbetween either.. so they must be good!!   they teach you to ride for life........ not just to pass your test Wink

I agree with Suzi, I didn't have a bike to ride on between lessons, I used their Yamaha Diversion, but EVERYTHING which Tim at Two Wheels taught me stays with me... you NEVER forget a GOOD Instructors teaching and I passed all of my Modules the first time too.   The scariest one was the first Module One, controlled riding in a Test Centre Training area....

Definitely recommend RJH in Salford
http://www.rjhgroup.co.uk/

Got me through my mod 1 (finally after many failed attempts with another instructor and on my own) and mod 2

Will be booking some enhanced rider lessons now I've passed my test and got my new bike

I also liked Valley Bike School in Rawtenstall where I did my CBT, it was just a bit too far away really
