Hey jacko, not really like FB, we have a chatroom, you can post or reply to posts in the forum, search for people in your area or all over.... whatever you like really. Main thing is.. join in and enjoy the ride

Ditto Sal from me J F you'll get out of it what you put into it, bit late in the year for rallies(unless you like frozen nuts-not just on your bike either!) you've got a great crew down in the Midlands for organising things, get in touch with B.J=Brummie Jackie, she'll put you right with any q's you have. Keep posting on the forums, let folks know you and your views, don't be worried about going to a meet for the first time we're all friendly enough on here, annoy folks in the chatroom, check out the events calender summat may suit you. I've been here since Sept 08 and enjoyed myself, met some good mates and enjoyed some great rallies/meets/rideouts. Get in there, sit on the sidelines and folk won't know you're about.   Welcome to the site mateHandshake..Enjoy Thumbs Up..

Hi JF   The other folks are right, give it a chance and am sure you will find BM more than fun :)   We have a few nights out coming up for over the winter months to keep us in touch with each other, pub meets, gigs, curries and other stuff so keep an eye on the threads for up coming events or drop me a pm and catch up :)   BJ x

In answer to your question, this is what Matt has put on the home page...   BM was started in the summer of 2006 after over 3 years of development as an offshoot from BikeChat.net, predominantly aimed at being a dating site. However, over the years it has progressed into a more broader social site with members organising ride outs, meet ups, BBQs, international trips and we’re now in the 2nd year of our very own rally – started and organised by the BM Members – the K.I.S.S Rally (Keep It Simple, Stupid!)5-6 years down the line now and we have 50,000 members, 30+ million hits per month, over 1,000 events per year, millions of forum posts / chatroom messages plus around 3,000-5,000 people logging on and 100 new members joining every single day.Matt is the site owner who designed BM from the ground up (as a hobby) and continues to maintain it with voluntary help from the moderators who are here to ensure forum etiquette, check profiles/photos are legit and to stop you (the members) from being spammed by malicious users. The moderators can also help you with any site issues or queries, but please check the Help page first. There are also voluntary events co-ordinators for most areas of the United Kingdom who are there to help you if you wish to set up an event/meet up/ride out. However it should be noted that they are not ‘responsible’ for organising ALL events. This is your site, you make it happen. Please note all site staff are members of BM who volunteer their time to help make BM what it is today. They usually have a proven track record of helping other BM members (aka 'BMers') and have shown special dedication to the site. There is also an events calendar which Sandi maintains, so if you want to add anything to the calendar, then follow the instructions in the calendar or PM Sandi.BM is largely free to use. You can create a profile, upload photos, respond to Private Messages, check our forums, join our events etc completely FREE of charge. You can also opt to upgrade your account, removing adverts from the site and allowing a few extra features. The funds raised through memberships goes towards promoting the site with full-page adverts in magazines such as Bike, Performance Bikes, Ride, MCN etc as well as online advertising on Facebook and Google. This keeps a continuous flow of new members joining the website, which would otherwise fail like previous, similar, sites. Your subs make the site grow so please continue to contribute! Of course there's also costs of maintaining the servers that run this site 24/7, more subs = better performance. BM is NOT a large corporate site run by faceless gremlins - we're a site run by bikers for bikers. Even Matt has his own day-job and runs BM in his spare time.We hope that you enjoy your time here. It's been said many times that you get out of BM what you put in! So join in with the forums & attend some events/meet ups/ride outs. You’ll soon make loads of friends and may even meet that special someone in the process! Bonus! If you want proof please read the testimonies page.

Hi JF.   I am fairly new to the site myself, standard member and then full.   I don't do facebook or twitter.   but this place is great, everyone is really friendly.   Loads of events to attend if that is what you want.   I've got my first night out with some of the BM crowd at the Manchester night out.     You definately get out what you put in.    If you have questions, there is always someone who can help.   The mods are great as well if you have any issues.    Give it a go, you've nothing to lose and loads of good people to meet and get to know.     RB

Jacko you get out what you put in on this site, there are some great peeps here and lots of rallies and meetups to go to, you can either join those and go on runs etc or be a lurker like me who mainly talks via PM to people, I never go to rallies (not my thing anymore, I have discovered I like my comfort too much LOL) and rarely get the time to meet up with anyone but I still enjoy having a yarn either via PM or on the chat room with folks. Oh and I have had lots of help when Ive needed it for questions about bike maintenance etc so plenty of nice folks in this neck of the woods.

BM is a way to pull you outta your self imposed shell after relationship breakdown....well thats my take on it!   sometimes taking the first step is difficult.....but we have mostly all been there before and therefore understand!Smile

There's been quite a few members in the past who like you joined as standard members and basically didn't get much further than that...Then when they got around to taking another longer look decided on joining and joining in and wondered why they hadn't done it sooner...Stick with it Jacko, only you can make B.M work for youThumbs Up.
