Thursday was a day of many firsts for me, let me relate a tale of woe.

Imagine an urban dual carriage way, a traffic light controlled junction with a right turn/filter, three lanes approach the lights, 1for right turn (right hand lane) 2 to proceed straight on (left and centre lanes).
Yours truly 30 metres behind a car in the centre lane approaching the junction (speed 25 mph ish), a car in the left lane proceeding through the junction, nothing to my right in the filter lane. The lights were showing green for straight ahead, and stop for the right filter.
The car ahead of me starts to enter the junction, crossing the threshold, showing commitment to proceed (i thought) I check the lights, still green, check left, right and rear, all clear, increase throttle to accelerate through the junction, But wait, then Oh Sugar, the car ahead is not moving, he has just executed a perfect emergency stop in the middle of the junction.

25mph accelerating, 30 metres, Honda XL250 1980, 6" front drum.

Thinking distance Hmm, No chance.

He says "I saw the red light out of the corner of my eye and thought I'd better stop"

In the middle of the junction???


The firsts

1. The manoeuvre carried out by the car driver.
2. Broken Bone (distal radius).
3. Proper bent Bike (rode to hospital for treatment)

Me for not expecting the manoeuvre and allowing sufficient space.

For those that haven't worked it out i went straight into the back of the car.

  Oo that's crud THO, did you find out what the emergency was? Apart from your own I mean.   I hope your distal radius heals well and your bike is soon mended too.

started sorting the bike today, anyone know a way to get oil/grease out of a plaster cast?
I've tried gloves to protect it but they don't fit so well, cling film is looking good though, pig to take off though.

                                                                                                                                                                             

  Yep, aint it weird how that stuff sticks to everything we don't want it to?  lol   Emulsion? Felt tip pen?, get someone to draw a pretty lady on. Will a neck warmer cover it?   Ok...I'll get me own coat...
