Hi Ian So sorry to hear of your friends fate. I have been the waterman often and enjoyed the bends but also seen accidents on them too. its a sad story to hear and brings it close to home, too close!. I hope that the injuries are not as bad as first thought. They always give a  prognosis that is the worst one can expect.   I remember years ago Mike Hailwood getting killed on roads around here., who would have thought such an experienced biker would be caught out on these road in the Midlands but shit happens. The best one says in these circumstances is I feel for you for him and his family and lets hope that it all goes better than expected.   Bless you Lin xxx

Thoughts to Neil & family.   There is life after paralysis. In the months to come, when all the excitement has died down and he actually has to start adjusting properly and establishing his new "normal", he will. He'll need support then more than ever and that stupidly tends to be the time that the visitors stop turning up.   Once he gets home, if he's online, give me a shout. I'm sure my Dad would be happy to chat with him and show him that it's possible to have a fulfilling life, despite his disability... and he'll also understand and empathise with the crashing downs, disappointments and feelings of loss of dignity that he'll no doubt go through.   Have a word with him/his family and get them to really push hard for him to get a place on a spinal injuries unit. It's vital that he gets specialised rehabilitation treatment.

Best wishes to Neil and family. Biggest healer will be his strength of mind with his mates to help bring him up when he gets down.
