Nope, I meant tell me it ISN'T non-firing... (ok, I can see how the use of two negatives made the sentence awkward but I didn''t want to use the word 'dummy')   Some of the replicas, no matter how detailed they are physically, just emit these weird synthesized noises.. need kickback!! (played Laserquest with my nephew & niece at the weekend and was great apart from the passivity of the weapon...)   Anyhoo, good luck with the project - am VERY interested how you get on!! Thumbs Up   p.s. if you or anybody else reading this has any dealings with the people who organise jousting events, could you PM me please? If I can get my horse skills up to scratch I really want to try this... I know there are schools and one-day 'activity day' sessions I can do but I want to look at all options... Cheers! Big smile

I went searching for my jousting buddy a few days ago as it happens... but he seems to have gone to ground :o(

If I do manage to locate him again, I'll give you a shout!

I know what ye meant, ya silly sausage. I was messing with you..... forgotten to never take me seriously already, have you?   TBH, we are somewhat limited on what can and cannot be done with replicas, both in cost and under the new VCRA and RIF laws. Technically, you're only allowed a realistic looking gun if it's painted bright pink.   Adding in a reliable, robust recoil mechanism that triggers under variable fire selections, pulsing in time with all the other actions is going to be expensive. Fitting the mechanism is an entirely different pain in the arse.   Sounds are already sorted - Some prop geeks have already created an FX package that does the job. The signature sound of a Pulse Rifle was fictional anyway, so you just need a small speaker that can handle the volume.     The greater disapointment is trying to replicate the Flame Throwers!!     As for Jousters, I'd only know of re-enactment groups who specialise in jousting. It's all rich, pansy nobility stuff anyway, though. Become a stage gladiator, or a Prize Fighter like James Figg!!

Cheers for that TTM! (Where firearms are concerned I take everything seriously... LOL)   Good to see you posting again, by the way!   Nah - I don't want all that re-enactment stuff, I want a true test without the pomp and ceremony!   Maybe we should do something along the lines of George A. Romero's film Knightriders? (although obviously less camp...)   For those who haven't seen it, it is jousting on motorbikes! (managed to get a copy on DVD a couple of years ago)   I am thinking kevlar suits of armour, carbon lances.....   Who's in?

I am thinking a mixture of jousting, Mad Max, Rollerball (the original!!!), Tron and Winnie the Pooh....   ok.. maybe not so much of the Poohmeister... but you get my drift...   Plenty of black, chrome, kevlar, carbon-fibre, loud pipes, blood, mangled bones.... all to a heavy thrash soundtrack!

Sounds like saturday afternoon games at a rally.
