Bob, being pc is what causes more problems in this country than a little.
This is Britain, as far as I know we are not yet the 51st state.

If your on two wheels I will nod, no problem, normally in europe they hold the left hand out, even the coppers do, unless they have set a speed trap upThumbs Up

@ the  "leg out" or wave. nod or low hand, fingers et cetera bit,

though no "obvious" rule has to be taken/implied (pc enough?)

I`ve found, if traveling towards each other, in UK, its easier to nod as taking your right hand of, effects the throttle, and therefore is not ideal,
whereas on`t continent, lifting/ putting hand out to LEFT side is easier,
and o more common,

the "leg out" bit seems to be  (usually) when passing another 2 and or 3 wheeled vehicle, as an acknowledgment, as again, if taking hand off throttle, it would negate the "passing" bit!

if those foreign folks all rode on the correct side of the road like us proper bike/motor bike/trick-cyclists then obviously there would be no
NEED for all this confusion, simple.

Well I've been to Assen for the Dutch TT  a few times from Hull via Rotterdam The  locals line the motorway on the route to the circuit  in picnic chairs and wave to bikers plus some hang out across the bridges that go over  the motorway and wave at bikers too Meanwhile the traffic on the two lane motorway keeps a gap in the middle so that bikes can filter up the middle
It's the most two wheeled friendly country that I  have visited including for push bikes with their extensive  cycle tracks  Thumbs Up
