hi there I would like to get a bike as i want to return to work and live in the middle of no where, could i have some suggestions on a good bike for a learner...( not to crappy hairdyery though please) and any other tips would be cool aswell   thanks

Hi wttgill i recomend the 650 sv suzuki very forgiving                                                                                                                                                                              

the 600 bandit a nice bike but you have to detune it, to 33bhp you can have any bike as long its 33bhp if you want a 125 the honda varadero nice bike  i would keep away from the two stroke 125                                                                                                                                                                              

If you're buying a 125, avoid any of the Chinese copies like the plague. Go for a genuine Honda, Suzy or Yamaha; crap like the Hyongsangs or the other stuff that gets flogged on e-bay for less than a grand brand new just proves the old point that you get what you pay for.   If you want reliable, and aren't too fussed about image; Honda CG125. Looks naff, goes forever. Yamaha's SR125 is a tidy little "custom" but a bit slow, Suzuki's GN 125 similar but a bit nippier.   If you're going down the Direct Access route for your test, then I agree with vmaxdeg that the Bandit 600 is a lot of bike for yer money.   Good luck whatever.                                                                                                                                                                             

i remember when i took my test it was so easy in my day, the instructer was on foot and only seen you twice, on the way back stepped out on you, then asked three question and you passed. i don't no what we worried about                                                                                                                                                                             

i love my yamaha tw 125 as it has nice fat wheels, and its purple, even the dust caps are purple                                                                                                                                                                              

Yamaha Virago 125, looks good, great commutor. Yeah stay away from 2 strokes and anything chinese.

SV650 is a good bike. I had one as a hire bike, and i agree it is very forgiving. So is the honda CBF600. If it is going to be your first bike after passing your test, buy somthing that you are not afraid to drop because you probably will. It does not have to be a total wreck either. My first bike was an ER-5 and i lived it to bits. if she was not written off by a muppet i would still have her even tho i now have a BMW. They are bomb proof and loody good fun to ride especally over the pennines.

For a stable, solid learner bike the Honda 125's are great. It all depends on budget really. Tho I have to make a comment about the chinese issue. Being a pauper at the time and 125's being like rocking horse doodah, I got myself a Feiying 125. Loads of chrome and for a 125 had a great sound. I really enjoyed riding it - apart from its limits on power and speed of course - and it looked good too. I only wish my current bike, as big as it is, was half the head-turner my little 125 was. BUT - for ease of parts....stick with the big names.

suzuki bandit 600 and if your a short arse a suzuki sv650..go and sit on few ..bandit might be a bit heavy for ya..but they dont break to much when you drop um,wel mine didnt ..sv 650 nice and light comfy riding position both are forgiving bikes...if ya want a ride up 2 midland super bikes let me know and ill get ya to sit on a few i cant pm though...
