A RESIDENT fed up with motorists speeding past his suburban house has bought a defunct Police speed camera van off eBay and parked it outside his home in a bid to make the area safer.

Kerry Donnelly claims road users regularly ignored the 30mph speed limit outside his home in Canton, Cardiff, fearing speeding road users could cause a serious accident.

Mr Donnelly was so concerned by the situation he bought a defunct South Wales camera van for £1,500 from eBay auction website, before parking it outside his house.

Mr Donnelly now claims his purchase has significantly reduced the number of speeders driving past his home.

A South Wales Police spokesman has confirmed Mr Donnelly is not breaking any laws.

tho he'll have to keep it taxed and insured.   Bit suprised any police ID isn't removed prior to sale aswell.

As you say now its been in the news it wont work ,  but whats the betting the old bill sit there in a few days when everybody think its his van and go past speeding
