Steel will be much easier with the fabrication work to follow

Just be careful, as a bike swinging arm is subjected to relatively little in the way of lateral forces, when compared to that of a trike ridden hard. Watch Soap Box Challenge and see those forces in action with creations fitted with tall bicycle wheels. They don't last long. You might want to speak to Mark at Grinnall Trikes near Stourport (01299 822862) as he might offer some advice, although he is a very busy chap. His trikes are works of art IMHO and beautifully engineered. Good luck with your project.

What you might wanna do is go on to the trike doctor site there's always some who'll know and be able to help

You are best having the rea of your bike frame reworked to take independent rear or make it rigid
