I think *Ziggy needs a new carb.   That's probably why he's been temperamental just lately.. 

I took him out last week and only got 1/2 mile and had to push him home again    

Really wanted to get out for a ride while I'm off work, but don't think he's gonna play nice.

I've looked on Ebay, only seen one to fit my bike for £31.25 anyone know where I might get one cheaper?

Suspect a CG125 carb may be similar,plenty of them in breakers,ZY125'S are a chinky copy of a CG.

As Bill say's there is no reason you should need a new carb maybe an air filter and good clean out. give us a ring if your need to

Well I drained the carb, but the battery's flat, and it started raining and I got titty-lip on.. so I gave up 

Someone's gonna have a look at it with me tomorrow...so fingers crossed

UPDATE: .. emptied the float, checked the air filter.. and tried again.. 
Battery flat 
Luckily Ziggy has a kick start aswell   (I'm just too weak and feeble to use it) ..

Wouldn't start on kick either, checked spark plug ( fairly new one! )   no spark 

Put old one back in.. managed to get him running.... eventually..and run him for a fair bit to get some charge in the battery.

Maybe I don't need a new carb after all?  

So going for a new spark plug tomorrow..and hopefully I'll be able to get out for a little ride before I'm back at work.
