So after making scones for the first time Im going to open a major debate!! Is it jam on first and cream on top
OR
cream on first and jam on top?
Strom67
Doesn't that depend on whether you're from Cornwall or Devon?
The Cornish put jam on first and clotted cream on top but in Devon it is done properly with clotted cream first and topped with strawberry jam!

Now you have a good point there... but being a Devon lad not sure what i should like!!

Cheat buy M&S strawberry clotted cream, it's all mixed in!
Strom67
Is that the Yorkshire Cream Tea?
Double six
Well, being a midlander from Shakespeare country, I prefer the jam first with clotted cream on top variation. Mainly because it is easier to lick cream out of the tash than sticky jam.

Scones should be served warm from the oven with (and only with) butter.

Just eat it fgs it all gets mixed up inside. Who wastes time examining it?

I'm not posh enough to know what way you should have a cream tea.

Is jam compulsory?
yorkie mick
Jam on digestive biscuits is about as near as I'd get
Strom67
Used to love butter and jam on digestives which might explain the high cholesterol, now just the statins.....
jinx57
Wonder if anyone does Marmite scones....🤔
Strom67
Apparently Cheese and Marmite scones are a thing Jinx!
There are loads of recipes but I don't have any idea if you can buy them commercially.

I'm sort of not really suprised, lol, however being allergic to cheese narrows this down even further,VStrom...i'll delve into internet,i think...thanks for the headsup...👍
